While many HR departments are focused on the short-term challenges of the impact of Brexit and new
government legislation such as GDPR, the mid-term challenge of an ageing workforce has yet to be addressed.

Despite being recognised by government departments and some organisations that the United Kingdom has an increasingly ageing workforce, there is limited research about the contributions of HR policies and strategies to retain and train these so-called ‘later-career’ workers.
